Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Award Winner Vasudhendra is a contemporary prolific voice in Kannada literature. Particularly known for his short fiction, Vasudhendra also write occasional prose in Kannada, many of which have been widely translated into English. Hailing from Sandur in Bellary district of Karnataka, Vasudhendra has a background in engineering and has worked in the software industry for several years before devoting more time to writing and its craft.

The first openly gay author in Kannada, Vasudhendra’s works are punctuated by some autobiographical elements that underline the emotional energy of his works. Vasudhendra also runs his own publication house, Chanda Pustaka, that introduces and markets works by young writers in Kannada.
